Dusting off the Crackle again...

I love fall, mainly because of the colors one gets to wear at fall, both in your wardrobe & on your nails. I love these colors so much that I will insert them occasionally into my spring & summer designs as well, to hell with "fashionable correctness"! I am also one of those people that dyes their hair blond in the winter & dark in the summer, insert GASP here, lol! Currently, though, I am a redhead & will keep it this way for a while as it's always been the most flattering color on me & goes well with all seasons!

Anyhow, I've gone off subject, this is a nail blog & I have dusted off my crackle polish today to show off a fall gold & black crackle look. As many know, crackle has kinda fallen off the fashion trend & even I had gotten bored with it, but it's extra pretty with fall colors & so you may see a few more of these out there from me. For this color combo I used my MAC Immortal Gold as my base & layered my black crackle from OPI called Black Shatter. I only own 2 MAC polishes because they are so expensive, but the two I own are so gorgeous I just had to have them. The other MAC I own is Rain of Flowers, I found a good picture of it on this site called Temptalia. So, 2 coats of Immortal Gold & after that dried for about 10min I put one even coat of Black Shatter.

  1. I'm doing a crackle mani this week for a challenge and I had to reach back far in my nail polish drawer to find my OPI Shatter-lol! This looks really great! I love black and gold together

    1. That's funny! Yeah I have like 6 colors & have only really used the black a total of maybe 5 times & 1 or 2 of the other colors. I just purchased a Croc Effect that I am dying to try out for a different look, it's supposed to dry like crocodile skin. I agree, gold & black are a perfect pair, thank you!

  2. I am not a big crackle fan, I own just one black crackle polish and I have to tell you I didn't liked it how it cracked, so I tried to apply it in another way. You can look up here for the technique I used: http://andicolouryourlife.blogspot.ro/2012/10/crackle-it-beautiful.html
Btw. I love the gold base combo with the black.

    1. I never thought of that, looks kinda cool! Maybe you just need a better crackle polish. I like the natural crackle that I get from my OPI shatter black, but I gotta have the right base color, I know they say that black goes with everything, but it really doesn't in this case. The best colors I have found to go with the crackle was this gold, a pale pink & a nude beige. Like I told Ameerah, I just got a new Croc Effect polish & am excited to see how it turns out, it's supposed to look like crocodile skin which I think is going to be AWESOME!!!
