Absent blogger returns

Hello old friends, we meet again! I have been so very busy, remodeled and sold our old home, bounced around 2 rentals and had our new home built and bought and just moved in! I foresee some new nail art coming very soon and I'm excited about it. In the meantime, here are some designs that never made the blog since my absence! You will notice I had a brief fling with at home acrylics, it was fun but I'm glad that's done and I'm back to natural:

31DC2013 Day 14: Flowers

So many flowers, so little time, how am I to pick a single design?! (Wow, that rhymed, was so not trying to sound like Dr. Seuss) Anyhow, I went on a Google search for some floral inspiration, I love the flower paintings I found, so many wonderful choices but I settled on one especially pretty one. The artists name is Lena Karpinsky, I followed the search to the source www.artbylena.com she is truly talented, you gotta check her out! Her painting is very vibrant, I went for a subtler version, but I was definitely inspired by her.

Pale Pink Daisy

Click flower for link to source

My inspiration, for this delicate spring design, is this pale pink daisy I found. I used one coat of Wet N Wild Sugar Coat & one coat of e.l.f. Fairy Dust. As usual, acrylic paints were used to do the detail. It's raining out today, but there's something about a pretty spring floral that brightens up the day!

And Spring arose on the garden fair,

Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.
~Percy Bysshe Shelley, "The Sensitive Plant"

I couldn't pick my favorite picture, so I've added all of them, Enjoy!

White rosebuds, inspired by Rina

I was inspired by yet another Rina  nail art creation. For this design she used a lovely light mint green, I chose to use one of my favorite greens Zoya Yara which is a gorgeous olive green with gold shimmer.

Here is my version:

I've been in a Vintage mood lately...

....so I've created a couple of designs over the last week that tie in with my mood.

For the first design I got the idea from Katrinasnailblog it's a little different, but similar enough that I must give her idea credit here. I used China Glaze Something Sweet & E.L.F. Desert Haze for my base colors & then used pink, white, red & green acrylic paint for the polka-dots & roses:

I put a 60's vintage film on it just to play up the vintage vibe.

The second design was inspired by copythatcopycat & is meant to look like an old vintage necklace & pendant. I used Zoya Pandora for my base & black, white & gold acrylic paints for my design:

Cinco de Mayo FIESTA nails:

A little late but.....HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!!! hope y'all had fun, here's the design I did for my FIESTA nails:

Angie's Daisies

Had a friend over & she had just had fake nails removed so her fingernails were really super short & a little weak from the removal of the artificial nails. So, I shared with her the wonderful solution that I had found to get her natural nails strong, mavala scientifique that I had found so helpful when I first stopped getting my nails done & wanted my natural nails to be beautiful. I applied the solution & offered to paint her nails to show her that even teeny tiny nails can look pretty, elegant & fun!

Her favorite color is blue so I used a gorgeous blue as a base, I can't remember the brand, & then painted some pretty white daisies. I also put a cute little butterfly on each of her ring fingers as an accent, here is the final result:

Spring Daisies!

I am reminded of a quote I read:

"Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into."

Feeling in the mood to brighten up a rainy day I decided to make my own personal little bouquet of flowers. I picked Daisies, well I didn't actually pick them of course just a matter of speech, they always did seem to make me smile!

Using the color I just got in a new W7 Metallic collection called Venus as my base, I then used acrylic paint in white, baby blue, yellow, orange & red to paint my daisies.

Now I know these aren't the real thing, but try not to smile!

Mom's English Roses

Inspired by my Mom
Roses were my Mom's favorite flower. Every time I smell one it reminds me of her. Painting roses makes me feel nostalgic, wishful & romantic. I had been wanting a dark green polish for so long & I finally found a beautiful one from Wet n Wild, unfortunately named Morbid. It only seemed right to make something that sounds like a depressing color into something romantic & beautiful. The color is just divine, & you will see, the roses turned out simply perfect & display the green beautifully.

English rose teacup inspiration

First I started with my CND sticky base coat that I've been using recently & really love, then I painted 2 coats of Wet n Wild Morbid & let dry for about 5min. I used FOLK ART metallic acrylic paints to paint the roses, leaves & dots, you can see in the picture bellow L-R: 493 Metallic Bright Red, 2484 Champagne, 2480 Royal Gold & 671 Metallic Peridot:

I also used a little finishing touch on the leaves with the Wet n Wild Morbid, to add a little more depth to the leaves, waited about 5min & finished with INM Out the Door top coat. Bellow is the finished look, I took a few different pictures to try & capture the color in different lights. (video tutorial coming as soon as I figure out how to edit, lol!)

As close to the "true color" as I could get

Hope ya'll have a lovely day, think of someone you love & smile!
