I've been in a Vintage mood lately...

....so I've created a couple of designs over the last week that tie in with my mood.

For the first design I got the idea from Katrinasnailblog it's a little different, but similar enough that I must give her idea credit here. I used China Glaze Something Sweet & E.L.F. Desert Haze for my base colors & then used pink, white, red & green acrylic paint for the polka-dots & roses:

I put a 60's vintage film on it just to play up the vintage vibe.

The second design was inspired by copythatcopycat & is meant to look like an old vintage necklace & pendant. I used Zoya Pandora for my base & black, white & gold acrylic paints for my design:

Antique Newspaper/Vintage Floral, inspired by RobinMoses

So, I've been dying to try the newspaper trend for the longest time & I finally got around to it. I found this lovely tutorial by Robin Moses where she did a beautiful design on top of her newspaper background, & I just had to try. Mind you, my nails are considerably smaller than the lady who's nails she's painting in the video, so getting the design to fit on my short nails was a bit of a challenge, but I'm happy with the result.

First picture is just the newspaper nail backdrop without the art on top, then with the vintage flowers added after. I used my trusty Sache Vite base & top coats, the color I used is Desert Haze by E.L.F., hope you like it, thanks to Robin Moses for the inspiration:

Girly-Girl Challenge, Day 4:Inspired by the Runway

Day 4 of the Girly-Girl challenge: "Inspired by the Runway"

I love this idea & I immediately started Googling fashion runway looks that I wanted to imitate on my nails.Take a look at all the lovely colors & styles of fashion on the runway & you are literally overflowing with ideas one after the other until you have to narrow it down to your absolute favorite & which you feel expresses the most inspiration for you. This is so hard to do. I found this pretty color block dress that was just lovely, I really liked the color combo, so I figured "why not!"

My inspiration.

Once again using Sache Vite for both my base & my top coats. I then painted my entire nail a pretty pale gold shimmer from Revlon called Gold Get 'Em, for the other block colors I used a greige color from e.l.f. called Desert Haze & a bright orange from the brand "Savvy" that I found @ Sallys called Orange You Happy. And for the tip I used Zoya Cynthia to tie it all in.

Here's my Girly-Girl challenge, Day 4, Runway inspired look:

Happy Valentines Day!

When my nail snagged I had to come up with an alternate design as I had to cut all my nails short to match. Although disappointed at first I have done my nails many times before when they were this short & so thought it's kinda good that I can show my readers that even though you may have small nails you can still do something cute & pretty at any length. Anyways, I chose to do a simple polka dot heart using E.L.F. passion pink nail polish & some black & white acrylic paint that you can find in any art store. I like using acrylic paint especially when I'm in a hurry as it dries really fast & you don't have to wait before putting the top coat on so you can get out the door fast. This time I was in a bit of a hurry as I did this design in the morning before I went to work so it was really helpful using the paint & I was done in about 20min. I actually get most of my paint from walmart for about $2 for a 2 oz. bottle. The brand they carry is called FOLK ART, I used Wicker White & a black called Licorice. For the base coat I used CND Sticky base coat &  INM Out the Door top coat. Here is the finished result....

Hope you are all having a lovely Valentines day, be happy & enjoy your special someone, or whomever it is that lights up your day today!
